The OneDollarGlasses – seeing the world clearly, coping with everyday life

The problem

According to a WHO study, more than 950 million people in the world need glasses, but cannot afford them or do not have an optician near them. The consequences: Children cannot learn, adults cannot work and provide for their families.

The solution

The OneDollarGlasses are made locally on a simple bending machine. Material costs: around 1 US dollar. The trained people can live from the production and sale of the glasses.

With the support of Max Brose Hilfe, 10 graduates of the course can work in different regions in India for one year. They impart their knowledge, do eye tests even in remote places and produce spectacles for the people. And they are in employment for one year.
