Kenya: Turkana Desert

For several years, our staff member Anna Rehaber has been volunteering for the Turkana Mission, which is supported by the association “MEHADEG e.V.”. The Turkana Desert is an area in the north-east of Kenya where the Turkana tribe lives.

The problems caused by the drought, which has been going on for years, are compounded by the lack of grain supplies. Likewise, diesel and petrol are currently even more difficult to obtain. Therefore, remote regions are no longer supplied.

The support of Max-Brose-Hilfe has helped the association to contribute to the supply of the regional population by procuring 65 tons of maize. A house was also built for a widow and her many children. Our Anne Rehaber spent a few weeks there herself to lend a hand in the construction. Furthermore, the construction of wells is being planned.
